I was so happy when I saw this. I've been wanting to play Super Mario 2 for a long time, and looked all over the internet and couldn't find it.
Sadly,
I tried getting the zip drive and downloaded three different emulators and couldn't get it to work...

It took me a while to find a mac emulator that worked too. There was alot of stuff for PC, keep looking, I bet you can get one. I know at lest, the game files work on that site.

They've had NES emulators for PC out for a while. They also have Atari, Intellivision, SuperNES, PlayStation, Dreamcast, PS2, and xbox emulators - with ported games. PhilWax got into it. I never saw the point of playing those ancient games - not when there are PC games out like GTA, Call of Duty, Civ, and Sim-whatever.

I think its just the nostalgia factor. Also, after playing a lot of the new games, there is a sort of simplicity in the old ones that I've come to injoy.

I tried playing Mario Bros. a while ago. I sucked. It was like the first time I'd ever played the game. I can't imagine how I'd do on the harder NES games.

I know what you mean. I don't think that I could get into them again the way I did back then. It's fun at first, but somehow it doesn't seem worth spending hours playing it. Then again, I suppose any video game really isn't worth the time we end up putting into them.

Yes they are Dammit! Civ 3 and Sim City 4 are worth the hundreds (literally) of hours I've spent playing them. Dammit!
Not to mention sports games. I bet I've logged well over 1000 hours playing sports games - football, baseball, golf, others. I bet I've spent more time playing video games than i've spent doing anything but working or sleeping.
At least I never got into the massive multiplayer games like everquest. Those games are like crack and can totally ruin peoples lives.

The first "newer" or computer game I ever spent hours on was a game called "Caesar" (for the PC). It was the coolest! It was a simulation game where you built a Roman city. Since then I've learned to resets this type of game. To recognize its drawing and never ending power of, "I'll stop right after I fix this one small thing". There was a few nights that I spent playing till dawn saying that over and over again.

I had a game based on Dune for my Commodore Amiga 64 in 1990. It totally rocked my shit.

Josh, I bet you would really like Civilization 3. Do you have a relatively fast PC at home?

I don't have a PC at all. But I do have a Power Book. It might be released for mac eventually. Most of those games make it to the mac sooner or later.
Because of this video game blog, I got the urge to go out and buy Age of Mythology (much like Age of Empires which the store was sold out of) and have been wasting plenty of time on that one. I can't seem to beat the stupid computer! Well, I can bet it on easy, but the default normal is impossible! Maybe I should look online for some tips or strategies.
